We may be partial to mountain biking, but we have to give it up for our roadie friends and Tour of Wilmington Whiteface weekend partners — the Whiteface Uphill Bike Race. The 11-mile, USATF-certified course on Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway ascends more than 3,500 feet over an eight-percent grade, offering panoramic views at the finish.
This year’s race begins at the Whiteface Mountain Ski Center on Sunday, June 4 at 8 a.m. The first three miles feature a “flat” surface before the real fun begins. After the grueling climb is complete, participants are treated to a post-race party with delicious barbecue, beautiful scenery and great company.
Want to take on the climb? Register as a solo rider, tandem team or even a unicyslist in several divisions.
